Things to ask before ordering t-shirts

Things to ask before ordering t-shirts

Are you unsure what things to ask before ordering t-shirts? If so, this guide was designed with you in mind. We’ll let you know some of the most important questions to ask before ordering personalised t-shirts in Grimsby. This should help you to avoid making decisions that you’ll come to regret later on. Whether you’re buying t-shirts for yourself, for a company, for your family or for your customers, it’s essential to get all the information that you require so you can make the right choices for your needs.

What do you need your t-shirts for?

Things to ask before ordering t-shirts

One of the first things you need to ask before ordering t-shirts is a question for yourself – what are they for? Are you planning on buying multiple t-shirts from a clothing supplier? Then you need to think about who will be wearing them, where they will be wearing them and what people will be doing whilst they are wearing them. Read on for more things to ask before ordering t-shirts.

What are your design needs?

If you’re buying t-shirts for your team and you need them to be highly visible, you should consider opting for bright colours and big letters. This will prevent them from being lost in the crowd if customers or clients require their attention. You may not require t-shirts made from high-quality materials if your team will only wear them once or twice.  There are savings to be made here. If visibility isn’t as important as hiding stains and you’re based in the food and drink industry, it may be best to opt for a darker colour. If your staff will be wearing them all day, every day, you’ll need to look for something comfortable, made from higher quality materials.

Are you giving t-shirts to customers?

Perhaps you’re purchasing personalised t-shirts in Grimsby to hand out as freebies for your customers? If so, try to order something that they will enjoy wearing regularly. A great reason for buying t-shirts for promotional purposes is that your customers can become brand ambassadors when they wear them out in public.

How many t-shirts do you require?

You also need to decide how many t-shirts you require before you go ahead and place an order. Buy too few and your needs won’t be met, but purchase too many and you could find yourself spending far more than necessary. Nonetheless, it can be worth purchasing more than you currently need as you may require more in future. Big savings may also be available to you when you buy in bulk.

What sizes do you need?

Getting the right sizes can be tricky. Do you already know who is going to be wearing your t-shirts, you can ask them for their sizes in advance. If you’re not exactly sure what your size requirements are, you could order similar numbers of all the most common sizes.

How will you distribute your t-shirts?

Another question you need to ask yourself is how will you get your t-shirts to your recipients? If you’re handing the garments out at an event, you can organise them into sizes so you can access the required t-shirts easily upon request. Are you are sending out your t-shirts through the post? Make sure you use high-quality packing materials so they aren’t damaged in transit. Weatherproof envelopes are a great option if you need to get your t-shirts out to your customers through the mail. It’s a good idea to add your recipients’ names and addresses to a spreadsheet. This will make it easy to source the details that you need when it’s time to post them out.

What kind of design do you need?

The better your t-shirts look, the more people will want to wear them. If you don’t have great design skills yourself, you can always outsource this task to a professional t-shirt designer who can get them looking fantastic. Great design can have a great impact on your reputation. It can convince potential customers that you are worth doing business with. If you want to keep costs down but still wish to use a professional design service, it’s wise to use a smaller number of colours. Even if a t-shirt only uses two or three colours, it can still have a powerful visual impact. Your t-shirts should have a bold design which ensures they are clearly visible even from far away.

What are the different ways to print onto a t-shirt?

What are the different ways to print onto a t-shirt?

Personalised t-shirts remain highly popular, suitable for a wide range of events and occasions. These versatile garments are ideal for stag and hen parties, holidays with friends, and even as promotional items for businesses. The method used to print designs, images, or lettering onto t-shirts varies greatly. Read on to find out what are the different ways to print onto a t-shirt.

Top t-shirt printing techniques

Personalised t-Shirts Lincoln

Many people assume that there’s only one way to print onto a t-shirt. In fact, there are several options available thanks to digital technology transforming the t-shirt printing industry in recent years. Each technique comes with various benefits, with some best suited to specific fabrics whereas others are more appropriate for larger orders. The method you choose will also depend on the number of colours in the design you want to print.

As you can see, there are a number of factors to consider when choosing a t-shirt printing method. At Banaman Clothing, we offer many types of t-shirt printing in Grimsby, Lincoln, and Scunthorpe, with all work carried out to the highest possible standards. We use modern, state of the art machine to ensure premium results. Keep reading to find out what are the different ways to print onto a t-shirt.

Screen printing

Screen printing is a very popular method of personalising t-shirts. Also known as silkscreen printing, it’s a good choice due to the fantastic quality finish it delivers. Screen printed t-shirts are famous for their known for longevity and colour vibrancy. Screen printing involves applying ink straight onto the t-shirt using a nylon mesh and stencil.

Although the process can be carried out by hand, machines are usually used and this is the best option for high-volume orders. We can produce many printed t-shirts relatively quickly with screen printing, with a gallon of ink allowing us to produce between 200-500 t-shirts. The screen printing process is super cost-efficient.

DTG printing

Anthem t-shirtDirect to Garment (DTG) printing is another popular method for personalising t-shirts. A specialist textile printer applies ink directly onto the garments, with the fibres absorbing it quickly. To help the colour attach to the t-shirts, we also apply a fixing agent. DTG printing is usually better for designs featuring complex logos and a wide range of different colours. In fact, since there are no restrictions on the number of colours used, it’s easy to achieve the look you desire for your t-shirt.

Computer programs such as Adobe Photoshop can allow you to add even the smallest details and transfer them to the t-shirt with incredible accuracy. At Banaman Clothing, we have state of the art printers for DTG printing. This ensures that the finish achieved is of the highest quality. An important point to consider is that most DTG printers are best designed for printing on t-shirts with high amounts of cotton in them (100% cotton is best). Therefore, the more cotton a t-shirt has, the bolder and more vivid a design will be.

Transfer

Textile transfers are a good choice for less complex designs since only a few colours can be used in the process. A relatively straightforward printing method, transfers are suitable for many different types of garments, including t-shirts. Transfers involve a sheet of vinyl being cut into the shape of a design, such as a logo, and then a heat press is used to heat seal it onto the garment. The process should not be confused with transfer prints that you might’ve seen at instant copy shops. A digitally printed transfer is ideal for producing, bold, vibrant full-colour designs. Transfers work best for low volume orders.

Dye-sublimation printing

If you have ever seen a t-shirt with a big design spread across it, it’s likely that the dye sublimation method was used to produce it. A popular variation of the heat transfer printing method, it works by digitally printing the designs and then using heat to transfer dye onto the t-shirts. Unlike other heat transfer print techniques, dye sublimation uses dye-based ink that turns from solid to gas and then back again.

Whilst dye sublimation usually costs more, the quality of the design is arguably better than other techniques. You can expect a bold and vibrant full-colour image that stands the test of time. Since the ink becomes a part of the fabric, you don’t need to worry about the design cracking, peeling, or otherwise deteriorating over time. Keep in mind that some fabrics aren’t suitable for this printing method. Garments should be light coloured and include polyester (either 100% polyester or a polyester blend). This is because the liquid dye dries up and solidifies when coming into contact with polyester.
